“But what about our children?”

Can I promise your children won’t be hurt in any way? Absolutely not.
Have our children been hurt, heartbroken, and exposed to hard things? Absolutely.

But we still choose it.
THEY still choose it.

When we moved to Colorado, we thought our fostering journey was over. We’d previously welcomed over 30 children into our home, are now living in a much smaller space, and have our family of nine to care for.
So how did we choose to say ‘yes’ again?

Our children.

Between letters under our door, posts in our family journals, and questions at the dinner table, it’s no exaggeration to say our children begged us to foster again.
And not just one or two of them.

ALL SEVEN.

Fostering had become a heartbeat of our family and our children missed it.

This month marks one year of foster licensure in Colorado and 8 months of the two littles being in our home. The current goal is reunification. Yes, if that happens our children will be heartbroken. Completely. Yet I know they’d choose the messiness of fostering once again.
(And again)
(And again)

Every morning we pray that God’s will be done and that we’ll live with our arms wide open, willing to be broken. Why?
Because it’s worth it.
Because THEY are worth it.

You can tell me you can’t foster because your children might get hurt...
but you’ll be missing out on joy and beauty that would change the hearts of your entire family.
